Ethidium Bromide is commonly used as a nucleic acid stain for gel electrophoresis due to its fluorescence when exposed to UV light. Ethidium Bromide intercalates double-stranded DNA and RNA and also acts as inhibitor of RNA and DNA polymerase. Can be used to stain gel after electrophoresis or incorporated into the gel and running buffer.
