Trypto Soy Agar is a general growth medium prepared with or without blood or enrichments. It is used for the isolation of different strains of fastidious microorganisms.
A blood agar medium may be prepared by adding 5 to 10% sterile defibrinated blood. TSA with 5% sheep blood is useful for the isolation and determination of hemolytic reactions of staphylococcus sp., steptococcus sp. and other pathogenic microorganisms found in the upper lower respiratory tract, blood, cerebrospinal fluid, minor lesions and other clinical specimens.
